MY STORY A Move To The Texas Gulf Coast

I’m Jerri Sutherland, a realtor in Galveston, TX and new to this thing called “blogging”.  I decided in late 2016 to make this journal go “live” and to stop procrastinating as I need to get my Galveston real estate business off the ground.  I also decided to learn more about videography, Facebook advertising, and other social media platforms to promote by new business.  I am here to say, I’ve truly learned a lot, but there is always more to learn!  The world we live in today is different than the world as it was yesterday!  Time doesn’t stand still and that’s a given.

I moved to Galveston, TX permanently in February of 2016 after 22 years of living in the Piney Woods of East Texas near Lake Livingston.  My husband and I bought a 600 sq. ft. foreclosed home in Sea Isle on Galveston’s West End.   We basically tore the house back to the studs, gutted the living room, kitchen, bath, and the one and only bedroom and began with the help of a friend and handyman to trace and repair electrical and plumbing issues.  Then we hired a contractor to hang sheetrock.  The contractor was also responsible for taping and floating the sheetrock.  We then caulked and painted the interior of the house.  Our handyman and my hubby completed installation of the Hardy board on the outside of the house and the outside was painted.  The contractor that we used to hang the sheetwork inside our house was also hired to install the Travertine tile in the kitchen and bath as well as install a brick backsplash with a glass inset and pony wall behind the new tub/shower. A attractive frameless glass shower enclosure was added to the tub.  The kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanity were purchased in Houston and  installed by my two grown sons.  My oldest son is a contractor of 16 years and my youngest son works in the manufacturing department for a specialty industrial service and product solutions provider.  My family often works together in rehabbing projects in Houston and the surrounding area. Downstairs, we added a laundry area adjoining an existing half bath and remodeled a small room with electric windows (once an outdoor bar) that I now call a home office. Late last summer after my husband had hung white 2″ wooden blinds, we moved in our furniture and appliances.  We have decorated our home with things both old and new.  An eclectic mix with a little coastal favor!  We now call Galveston, “Home Sweet Home.”  I love it!

I began building my Galveston real estate business in 2016.  In order to succeed in this business, I feel it is necessary to let my clients know who I am and how I can help them with all their real estate needs.  What better way to communicate this information than through a blog.  I want to provide my customers with a 5-star experience while working with me as their agent.  I want my clients to recommend me to their co-workers, family and friends.  I will be blogging about general real estate information (like simple steps to home ownership, selling your home quickly at the highest price possible), Galveston neighborhoods, historical places of interest in Galveston, various events and things to do while visiting the Island, as well as active property listings and home sales data in Galveston neighborhoods.
