A Time of Self Reflection.

As the events of Wednesday afternoon, February 14, 2018 began to unfold on TV at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, I seriously began to reflect & assess my own values, priorities and the principals I live by.  How did this happen?   What is important to me and Why do I do what I do?  I am a parent and grandparent of two grown sons and three grand children, two girls, ages 5 & 3 and a grandson soon to be 3.  I love them dearly and I worry about them and their safety.  When I grew up,  churches and schools were safe environments.  Churches and schools were places of worship and schools were places of education, a place of to learn.  These institutions have been turned inside out and upside down.  Chaos, fear, confusion, and violence have entered their door.  When and how do we put an end to this terror?

I am constantly giving my kids and grand kids a hug, a kiss, and telling them how much I love them.  This is important to me and I want them to to know how much I love and care for them.  What else is really important to me?  First of all, my love for God.  A God that sent His only Son, a perfect sacrifice, holy and blameless to shed his blood for me.  Me, a sinner.  Jesus died to save me from my sin.  By accepting HIm as Lord and Savior, I will have eternal life.  Jesus has set me free and has gone to prepare a home for me in Heaven.  I want others to know Jesus as their personal Savior and what He has done for me.  Secondly, my love for family.  The love and concern I have for each member of my family, husband, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters.  My love and concern for friends, neighbors and co-workers.  How do I treat them?  How do I care for members of my family and my extended family?  Thirdly, love for my country.  Do I honor and respect my country and its leaders?  Am I grateful to live in the land of the brave and free?  Do I respect the institutions and the ideals that sets this country apart from other countries of the world?  How do I express my gratitude?  Do I take for granted the opportunities I have in front of me?  Do I lift up and pray for my country, its leaders and the men who have fought and died to give us freedom and the opportunities that we enjoy?  I hope and pray we NEVER forget!

This is certainly a time of reflection in my life.  Why do I do the things I do?  Why do I do real estate,  you ask?  Because I love people and I love helping others.  I want people everywhere to have a home and family.  A safe place to raise their family and time to spend with their spouse and kids.  A place to "call home", teaching  their kids about God.  Home is a place where  family shares their love for one another.  A place where parents teach their children to honor father and mother.  Home is a place where parents raise children to love their country, respect its institutions, and value its ideals.  A country where children are proud to say their an American.  A country where children  honor those that have served and those that are currently serving in our military.  As the years quickly pass by, my heart's desire is to spend more time with my family.  I want to spend time enjoying each member of my family.  I want to spend more time enjoying  the things that I love.  Time enjoying nature.  I want to take more photographs of the nature that I love .  I want to ride my bicycle more.  I want to go kayaking.  I want to read.  I want to learn more about technology and acquire new  computer skills.  I want to grow my real estate business.  What do you do?  What inspires and motivates you?  And, why do you do (the job) you do?   SHARE your story with everyone you meet!
